My name is David Burch, and I am the founder of Vigilant Protection Services. I am a U.S. Army combat veteran with eight years of service as a Military Police Officer. Following my military career, I continued my commitment to public safety by becoming a police officer in the state of Maryland, where I’ve proudly served for over 11 years.

Throughout my law enforcement career, I’ve held several key roles—including patrol officer, narcotics detective, and district detective—investigating major crimes such as shootings, robberies, abductions, and burglaries. I also served as an instructor at the police academy, and I currently hold the rank of Sergeant, leading investigations focused on dismantling violent criminal enterprises.

Vigilant Protection Services was founded in 2023 after I experienced a deadly off-duty encounter that forever changed my perspective. That moment reinforced a deeply personal belief: those who are legally allowed to carry a firearm should not only be able—but trained, prepared, and confident in doing so.

My mission is simple—equip everyday individuals with the knowledge, skill, and mindset needed to protect themselves and their loved ones. I bring real-world experience, professional instruction, and a down-to-earth, approachable teaching style to every class. Your safety is my priority—and it starts with being prepared.
